After being notified at his home earlier in the morning that he had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, former President Jimmy Carter held a press conference on the sidewalk in downtown Plains.

During the time since Jimmy Carter left the White House and returned to Plains, many have been of the opinion that this award was long overdue.
